Dr. Stelomethet Ethel B Gardner

Coast Salish Woman with the Gift of Language Revitalization

Here are some articles and information on Dr. Gardner as additional information for our EDEL 412 class, in addition to the two articles of Dr. Gardner’s we are reading.

U of A Academic Staff ~ I recommend reading and watching a video of her.

She is currently employed at the University of Alberta as an Associate Professor within the Elementary Education Department.  She has done extensive work all across Canada.  Dr. Gardner’s primary research interests are aboriginal education, aboriginal

language and literacy, indigenous language revitalization, indigenous languages and techn

ology.  I am sure I will underrepresent Dr. Gardner in this post as I have only had a glimpse of her work and presence for one semester in 2010.  For this I apologize but look forward to reading more of her works and getting to know her better.
